Conference Information

  1. Session title and presenter name
Podcasting: What you need to get started by Karen Fasimpaur
  2. From this session, what information made a lasting impression?
I learned a lot about podcasting and enriching my teaching for my students. It gave me the knowledge to expand another avenue on how to get your teaching across to all your students. It also allowed me an excellent idea about how to get students that are absent a way to catch up on what they missed.
  3. How will you use this information as a teacher? (Productivity tool? Instructional tool?)
I have used this information to create audio podcasts using Audacity. I have posted these to my Blackboard site for my classroom. My next step for implementation is creating video podcasts of study guides.
  4. How will your students use this information? (What kind of learning activity?)
Students will be able to access the podcast from home and usually write a follow up question or answer a question based on what they have heard in class and heard me say.
  5. What kind of product will be produced from this type of educational handheld activity?
  6. How will you assess the student-created product?
Using a created rubric that assesses speaking objectives and also content area objectives for the created assignment.
  7. What roadblocks are currently in place that would prevent you from doing this in your classroom?
We are not a "at risk" school and we currently are trying to get grants to purchase handhelds. We don't have handhelds now in our school to assist with our implementation of conference material.
